✅ sb + is/is not my type

  • Definition
    자신의 취향, 이상형의 사람을 표현할 때. 특히 사물이 아닌, 사람
    If someone is my type, it means they have the qualities I'm usually attracted to.
    If someone is not my type, personally, I don't want to date them.
    Especailly, it's used to describe a person not a thing.
  • Example
    - He seems like a nice guy but he's just not my type.
    - I'm into guys who have a great sense of humour and who likes sports, what's your type?

 

✅ sth + is/is not sb's style

  • Definition
    누군가의 행동, 성격에 따른 행동을 묘사할 때
    To describe an action which is normal for someone to do depeding on their personality.
    It can also describe clothes or accessories which suit someone.
  • Example
    - I would never date someone who I met online. It's not my style.
    - My sister bought this top but it wasn't her style so she gave it to me.

 

✅ sth + is/is not to sb's taste

  • Definition
    "to"와 함께
    It's more formal and describes something we find pleasing and that meets our personal standards.
  • Example
    - The art exhibition wasn't to my taste but you might like it.
    - The food wasn't to her taste so she only ate half of her meal.

 

✅ sth + is right up my street

  • Definition
    주로 영국식 표현, 긍정적인 느낌 :)
    It is informal and mainly usd in the UK. It is very positive, describing something which perfectly matches our tastes.
  • Example
    - My friend recommended watching Sherlock and it was right up my street.
    - I bought my father this book on history, I know it's right up his street. (역사에 관한 책)
